 "And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter." (Revelation 8:10, 11 )




    "Chernobyl" means "wormwood" in Ukrainian according to Fredrick Pohl in his book "Chernobyl


    It is a little after 5AM. I woke up a little while ago. While surfing the web for news of the reactor accidents in Japan I came across these video clips. The first is the last film of Vladimir Shevchenko. He literally died making it.

   Thousands of men paid with years of their lives for the foolish mistakes of others. Some paid with all of the years they had. The footage of the men reading the newspaper in the bus on their morning commute to hell will be with me for a long time.
